I received another email warning this morning from one of our distributors. I will not reveal the name of the distributor, but as noted in the first warning, this has come from one of the oldest firearm, ammo, and accessories distributors in the industry. I do not take emails from this guy lightly.
There were already some announced ammo increases on April 1st but we will not be taking them until sometime after May 1st
Some of the ammo we had at the SHOT show prices have already moved up – we’ve already run through what should have been 6+ months of that ammo
The few that area left on special will probably come off at the end of April – increases will be in the 8% range so stock up now
If you have waited until now to start stocking up on ammo, especially .223, 5.56 NATO, or 7.62, you have waited too long. It was vastly available a few months ago, but since has almost completely dried up at the distributors.
Prices online are already rising for ammo, accessories, and firearms. Rifles I saw for great prices a month ago are now advertised for more, as dealers know once they sell an in-demand item, they most likely will not be able to replace that item on the shelf, as the distributors are bone dry on inventory.
This is not breaking news, the media has been pumping out several articles per day on the increase both in gun sales, and ammunition. I have a google alert set up for many things firearm related, and any time one of those things hits the news, It alerts me via email.
I have gotten more emails on news stories proclaiming “gun grabbing” in the last few weeks than I have over the last 8 months put together.
I also have a steady stream of customers here in Houston Gun Stores, who have taken notice to the increase in media coverage, and have decided now is the time to get that item they have been putting off, be it a rifle, handgun, or even accessory.
